Certified, On the Ballot, and Focused on What Matters

This week marked an important milestone for our campaign: we have officially been certified and will appear on the ballot for Maine State Senate, District 4.
That certification is more than a procedural step. It is confirmation that this campaign—built town by town, conversation by conversation—is moving forward with momentum, legitimacy, and growing support across our district.
With that milestone behind us, it is worth refocusing on why this campaign exists and what is truly at stake for the people of rural Maine.
1. Public Safety Is Not a Talking Point — It Is a Responsibility
Across our district, public safety looks very different than it does in Augusta or southern Maine.
Here, emergency response depends on:
Volunteers who leave work or family at a moment’s notice
Long travel distances and difficult weather
Limited resources stretched across large geographic areas
Public safety policy must reflect reality, not theory. That means strengthening volunteer fire and EMS services, improving mutual aid coordination, and ensuring state policy supports—not burdens—the people who actually respond when a call comes in.
This campaign is grounded in firsthand experience with those systems, not abstract assumptions.
2. Local Control Protects Rural Communities
Rural Maine does not need more top-down mandates. It needs respect for local decision-making.
Local control matters because:
Towns understand their needs better than distant agencies
One-size-fits-all policies often fail in rural settings
Unfunded mandates shift costs onto property taxpayers
State government should empower communities, not override them. When state leaders listen to local officials instead of dictating to them, outcomes improve and trust is restored.
Defending local control is not resistance to progress—it is commitment to effective governance.
3. Accountability Means Showing Results, Not Defenses
Recently, I listened to a speech by an opponent who spent a significant amount of time defending his record and explaining past decisions.
That approach highlights a clear difference in leadership philosophy.
I believe voters deserve:
Clear priorities going forward, not extended explanations of the past
Measurable outcomes, not justifications
Accountability that is proactive, not reactive
When leadership is effective, it does not require long defenses. It shows itself in stronger communities, better services, and trust earned through action.
This campaign is not about relitigating old arguments. It is about addressing current challenges and preparing for what comes next.
A Campaign Focused Forward
Being certified and on the ballot allows us to turn fully toward the work ahead: engaging voters, refining policy solutions, and earning the trust required to represent this district in the Maine State Senate.
This campaign will continue to focus on:
Public safety rooted in reality
Local control that respects communities
Accountability defined by results
I am not running to defend a record. I am running to build one—together with the people who live, work, and raise families here.
The work continues, and I am grateful for everyone who has helped bring this campaign to this point.
