Why I’m Running for the Maine State Senate - District 4

Updated: Jan 7

I didn’t plan on running for office. Like most people, I’m busy working, raising a family, and trying to do right by the people around me. But over time, it became harder to ignore the gap between the decisions being made in Augusta and the realities of life here in District 4.

I live here. My family lives here. The choices made at the State House don’t affect some abstract group of people somewhere else — they affect my neighbors, my community, and my own household. When public safety resources are stretched thin, when response times are long, when costs keep rising, those aren’t talking points. They’re real consequences.

My background is in business and in private security and public safety operations. That work taught me that leadership isn’t about titles or speeches. It’s about preparation, accountability, and making decisions when the stakes are real. When something goes wrong, there’s no press release to hide behind — you own it, you fix it, and you learn from it.

Living in rural Maine also teaches you something important: people show up for each other. Volunteer firefighters, EMTs, and law enforcement officers step up every day, often with limited support. Town officials juggle tight budgets and competing needs. Families do the best they can with what they have. Government should recognize that reality and work with communities, not over them.

I’m running because I believe leadership should be closer to the people it affects. Local communities know their needs better than distant policymakers do. One-size-fits-all mandates may look good on paper, but they often don’t work on the ground. We need practical decision-making that respects local knowledge and common sense.

I’m also running because fiscal responsibility matters. Families across District 4 are feeling the pressure of higher costs, and government should not make that harder. Taxpayer dollars should be spent carefully, focused on core responsibilities, and tied to real results. Accountability isn’t optional — it’s the job.

Most of all, I’m running because I believe public office is a form of service. It’s about listening, showing up, and being willing to explain your decisions honestly. It’s about remembering who you work for and where you go home at the end of the day.

I’m not running to be a politician. I’m running to represent my neighbors, to bring practical judgment to the State Senate, and to make decisions I’m willing to stand behind — not just as a candidate, but as a member of this community.

If you see me at a local event, a town meeting, or out in the community, I hope you’ll stop and talk with me. I’m running to listen as much as to lead, and I believe District 4 deserves steady, accountable representation rooted in real life here in Maine.

Showing Up Across District 4

One of the commitments I made when I decided to run for State Senate was simple: show up, listen, and be present in the communities I’m asking to represent. This week has been about doing exactly that
